Hoy fue nuestra ultima visita con la partera, Suzanne. Suzanne se porto muy muy bien con nosotros desde el principio y desarrollamos una relacion muy amistosa. La vamos a extrañar, pero tambien significa que Maya esta lista a enfrentar el mundo con menos seguimiento ya que esta comiendo bien y subiendo de peso. Maya subio 7 onzas en 6 dias, hoy peso 7 lbs. 2.5 oz / 3.25 kg. ¡Que bien!

Ayer vino la partera para ver si Maya gano peso. La respuesta... !Si! Ya tiene el mismo peso como tenia al momento de nacimiento. !Que buenas noticias!

Yesterday, the midwife came to see if Maya had gained weight. The answer.... YES! She has recovered her birth weight, which is what's normal at about 2 weeks. What great news!

Aqui estamos a las 10:45 de la manana, exactemente una semana despues el nacimiento.

Maya is well on her way to a full recovery. We know this because of the colour of her poo. Yes, I know this may be a case of too much information, but it's true. Bradfordians describe the colour as "chicken korma" and it is. Strike that from the menu!

We're home! Yay!! Carla and I brought the baby home today from hospital.

Just crossing the threshold of our flat was a relief. We expected our hospital stay to be for two days of observation, but it stretched into five days, from Thursday afternoon until Tuesday mid-morning. Maya's hydration levels are now good. She's feeding well and putting on weight. And most importantly, she's sleeping well, too, which gives us some time to do likewise. It's unbelievable that I have less than four days paternity leave left.

Carla and I will be spending the next couple days in the Bradford Royal Infirmary hospital with Maya. While newborns lose weight after birth normally, she lost a little more weight than expected in the first few days and is a little dehydrated. So we're in the children's ward for observation and re-hydration. She is responding very well to the rehydration so far and blood tests have pretty much ruled out any kind of infection.

Maya's hair is black, with dark eyes, and long nails. She likes to eat, sleep and be with Mom and Dad. She's no fan of a camera's flash nor of the colour pink. We thank God that the labour was short, beautiful and in the comfort of our own home, which is what we wanted, and for giving us this precious daughter.

Maya tiene pelo negro, ojos oscuros y uñas muy largas. Le gusta comer, dormir y estar con su papá y su mamá. No le gusta el flash de la cámara ni el color rosado. Le damos gracias a Dios de darnos un parto corto, lindo y en casa como deseabamos y de darnos una niña preciosa.
